Ronald J. Haywood age 75, of Flushing, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Genesys Health Park surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held August 3, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris.

Ron was born March 29, 1941 in Taylorville, IL, the son of the late William Thomas and Ann Grace (Busby) Haywood. He was a resident of Flint, Flushing, and Fort Myers, FL most of his life. He graduated from Flint Northern High School. Ron had managed Burger King Restaurants and operated Big Boy downtown Flint for many for many years.

In 1980, he received an Associate's Degree from Mott Community College in Labor Studies and Psychology. Ron later went to work for GM retiring in 2000 where he served as a U.A.W. Union Representative and Benefits Representative and received the U.A.W. Walter Reuther Distinguished Service Award. He also served on the Board of Directors for Health Plus of Michigan, Board of Directors for Oakbrook Condos, Flagstaff Condos in Flushing and their condos in Florida.

Ron enjoyed Florida winters, reading, golf, Michigan Football and relaxing with the love of his life, wife, Mary (they were known as the shoestring of a shoe).

Mr. Haywood is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Terry of Burton, Ronald D. and fiancée, Mary of Flushing; daughter, Kristen (Haywood) and husband, Erwin McKone with granddaughter, Mollie of Indiana; brother, Gary of Ypsilanti; sister-in-law, Kathy of Chelsea; other family members, Jim and June Kerns of Flushing, Maureen and Dave Sanders, Louise and Charles Arntz, all of Swartz Creek, jean Gorrie of Mt. Morris, Dave and Vickie Besaw of Clio; close friends, Gary Mabry and Kenny Pfaff. He was preceded in death by: his parents; twin brother, Donald A. Haywood; and sister-in-law, Pauline.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the dedicated ICU staff at Genesys Health Park along with special friend, Dr. John Schriner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
