Beulah worked for years in the restaurant business, construction (Piombo) and later her son-in-law's athletic club in Sebastopol where she spoiled the early morning/coffee crowd at Coaches' Corner. When Beulah was not working, she enjoyed canning with her family, watching bull riding on TV and listening to country music. Her favorite artist was George Strait, who she saw in concert at the Oakland Coliseum when she was in her mid-70's. She was also a huge sports fan, especially when her children and grandchildren were participating.
Anyone who knew Beulah knows of her work ethic, always giving 120% and with non-stop energy. That energy continued until the last few months of her life.
Beulah is preceded in death by her husband Bud Schwellenbach and sister Dorothy Curless. She is survived by her daughters Loretta Castleberry (Chip), Glenda Ayres (Fred); grandchildren: Lou Castleberry (Diana), Kate Thompson (Michael), Sloane Ayres; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Five Palms Care Home (especially Josephine and Ricci), who took such good care of Beulah the last 2 1/2 years of her life. In addition, the family sends their appreciation to the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at SRMH for the comfort/compassion they showed towards Beulah during the last few days of her life.
Services will be held at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park at 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd. Sebastopol at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011, followed by a celebration of her life at the Castleberry home. In lieu of flowers, family prefers donations in Beulah's memory to the local in Santa Rosa.
