James Clyne Alford, 91, of Hurricane passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at his home.

Born March 14, 1925 in Putnam County, he was a son of the late William Cecil and Iva Virginia Johnson Alford. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Wayne Alford and several brothers and sisters.

He was a retired machinist from American Electric Power and attended First Baptist Church of St. Albans. He had been an avid bowler in his earlier years. He served his country with the United States Marine Corp during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Alford; his children, Stephen Alford (Diana) of Teays Valley, Lesa Skaggs (David) of Caddo Mills, TX; step-daughters, Sarah Ginn (James Lilly) of St. Albans, Jessica James (Jimmy) of Hurricane; sister, Evelyn Arnold of Virginia Beach, VA; brother-in-law, John McCraw (Beverly) of Baltimore, OH; sister-in-law, Judith Jenkins of Medford, OR; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, August 1, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Pastor Joel Harpold officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Alford Cemetery, Hurricane, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
