Ephraim Broyles was the son of Matthias Broyles and Eva Klug.

EPHRAIM BROYLES was son of Matthias Broyles and Eva Klug. He was born June 3, 1767 in Culpeper County, Virginia and died September 3, 1851 in Greene County, Tennessee at the age of 84 years & 3 months. He married Grace McCain, who was born April 2, 1770 and died August 2, 1852 at the age of 82 years & 5 months. Their ages are given in the 1850 census of Greene County, TN as 84 and 82 respectively. Ephraim Broyles lived on Horse Creek, signed as security for many of the marriage bonds of the Broyleses, and was a devout Methodist and a class reader, leaving after him the reputation of being a very kind-hearted man. He was also said to have had a withered hand. He made his will dated March 19, 1828, probated October 6, 1851 in which he mentions wife Grace and four children: Matthias Broyles; Eva, wife of George Kindle; Sally, wife of Jacob Dulany, and John J. Broyles. Son John J. Broyles and Col. Henry Earnest are named executors.

6 Oct 1851 - Ephraim's will is probated. The will had actually been written much earlier-- 19 Mar 1828. The will names his four children and wife Grace. Grace inherits the house and the interest on $500. The children are to divide the estate equally on her death.
