William G. Arnall, 72, of Grand Island, died January 31, 2004 at Wedgewood Care Center. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the United Congregational Church with Pastor Lonnie Logan officiating. Visitation will be from 3 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the William “Bill” Arnall Memorial Fund.
Bill was born June 13, 1931 at Omaha, Ne., the son of Berhl and Sara (Rush) Arnall. He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1949. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Darlene Aden in Gothenburg. Darlene died in December
1980. In the early 1950’s he served in the National Guard 134th Infantry. He married Shirley Clarence on Aug. 16, 1986 in Grand Island. Shirley died in July 1995.
Bill retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 44 years of service. On Feb.20, 1999, Bill and Verna Frandson were married in Grand Island. He was a member of the United Congregational Church. Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed
dancing, camping, playing cards and traveling. Bill and Verna were both members of the Liederkranz and the Liederkranz German Singers. Bill also held memberships in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Platt Duetsche, the Saddle Club, the Union Pacific Employees Club and the Doniphan American Legion. Bill enjoyed his family; especially watching his grandchildren play ball. He liked
sports, riding motorcycles and was a member and state director of the GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Assn.) He served as a Boy Scout leader for several years and he volunteered many hours at the Am. Red Cross as well as donating 16 gal. of blood over his lifetime. Bill always kept busy helping others with their needs.
He is survived by his wife, Verna of Grand Island, three daughters and son-in-laws; Kathy (David) Chase of Marquette, NE, Cindy (Eric) Mortensen of Louisville, CO, and Deb Rossbach of Cleveland, Ohio.
Six granddaughters; Sara Chase of Orlando, FL, Ashley Chase of Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, Tifany and husband (Andy) Albrecht of Lincoln, NE, Rebekah Rossbach of MT, Union Univ. in Ohio, Abigail Rossbach (Living at
home) in Cleveland Ohio, and Karen Mortensen (Living at home) in Louisville, Colo. And one grandson: John William Mortensen (Living at home) in Louisville, CO.
3 step-daughters: Sandy (B.J.) Ried of Ne. City, Ne.
Sherri (Harvey) Miller of Iowa City, Iowa.
Linda (Mike) Mathis of St. Libory, Ne.
6 Step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren
1 Brother: Bob and (Bonnie) Arnall of Huntsville, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his wives: Darlene and Shirley, and 3 Brothers: Dick, Don and Berhl Jr.
