Lewis Bynum Anderson

Mr. Lewis Bynum Anderson, 87, of Hodges Gap Road, Boone, died Monday morning, Nov. 20, 2006 at Watauga Medical Center.

He was born July 28, 1919 in Watauga County, a son of the late Roy J. and Rebecca Earp Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a retired lineman for Blue Ridge Electric, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Vines Anderson; two daughters, Jane Ann Hodges and husband, Bobby, and Kay Anderson; and one son, Lewis Hal Anderson and wife, Gail, all of Boone; four grandchildren; Rev. Greg Anderson and wife, Melanie, of Charlottesville, Va., Michael Hodges of Monroe, Cheryl Dunn and husband, Bobby,of Lady Smith, Va., Michelle Swann and husband, Julian, of Atlanta, Ga.; seven great-grandchildren, Callie and Cody Lewis Dunn, Gracie Hodges, Abigail and Amelia Anderson, Judge Lewis Swann and Emma Swann; and a special nephew, Larry Tester of Sugar Grove; one sister, Lettie McClung of Mauldin, Mass.; and a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Lewis Hal Anderson, Jr.; one great-grandson, Cory Dunn; and two sisters, Bertha Coffey and Edith Tester.

Services will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o'clock at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 until 11 o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. Greg Anderson.

Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewis Hal Anderson, Jr. Scholarship Fund, in care of Oak Grove Baptist Church, 306 Oak Grove Road, Boone, N.C. 28607.

The family received friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
