Charles E. Stackhouse
Battle Ground - Charles E. "Jack" Stackhouse, 87, of 103 Prophet St., Battle Ground, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Home Hospital. He had been ill and hospitalized since July 7.
He was born in Tippecanoe County and was a life resident of this area. In 1917 he was married, at Battle Ground, to Don Ola Cowger, who died in 1980.
Mr. Stackhouse retired in 1965 after 50 years as an auto mechanic at Jerry Johnson Garage and 50 years as a bus driver for Battle Ground School. He was a member of Battle Ground United Methodist Church, Tippecanoe Township Volunteer Fire Department and was a life member of Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Stacy (Elizabeth) Prough and Mrs. Wilbur (Martha) Lehman, both of Battle Ground, and Mrs. William (Margaret) McConahay of West Lafayette; and a brother, Dewey W. Stackhouse of Battle Ground.
