HERMISTON - Kareen Lee Berry, 68, of Hermiston died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, shortly after returning from a family trip to Hawaii. A small gathering will be held at the home of her daughter Shannon Sowell at a later date.

Ms. Berry was born March 29, 1942, in Yakima, Wash., to Clarence and Lena Berry. She was raised in Echo and graduated from Echo High School in the Class of 1960.

After high school she attended business college in California, returning to the Hermiston area when her father passed away. She married Ernie Dumond in 1965 and they had two daughters; they later divorced. In addition to raising her daughters, she also raised grandson Drake Dumond.

She worked at Lamb Weston as a case packer operator for 35 years, retiring in 2006.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include daughters Shannon Sowell and Kimberly Masonhiemer, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of Hermiston.
