Janice Mae Meihls, age 78, of Grand Rapids, formerly of St. Louis passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at her daughter's home. She was born January 12, 1938, in Saginaw the daughter of J. Franklin and Jeannette (Card) Abbey. She married Franklin L. Harris in 1959 and Harold Meihls in 1997. She was a clerk and secretary before teaching elementary school for 26 years in Alma. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Alma United Methodist Church, and Community of Christ Church. Janice sang in the choirs and enjoyed music and reading.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey S. Harris; daughter Sheryl (James) Lossing; brother James F. Abbey; daughter-in-law Donna Harris; grandchildren: Stephen Lossing, Christopher (Autumn) Lossing, Jonathan Lossing, and Joshua Lossing.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Franklin Harris and Harold Meihls; and son Steven F. Harris.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11 AM at the Alma United Methodist Church with Pastor Debbie Thomas officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Alma.
