41years before retiring in 1973, died yesterday at the Jane Brown unit of Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Gertrude M. (Warner) Howland.
Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Lester M. and Caroline (Taber) Howland.
Mr. Howland was a member and honorary deacon of Meshanticut Park Baptist Church, and a member of Doric Lodge 38, F & AM.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Lewis A. Howland Jr. of Cranston and the Rev. Donald W. Howland of San Antonio, Tex.; a daughter, Lynda L. Howland of East Providence; six grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Meshanticut Park Baptist Church, Oaklawn Avenue. Burial will be private.
