Dawna Bryant Isom of Cedar City passed away while surrounded by family on July 22, 2016.

Dawna was born on April 5, 1936 in Cedar City, Utah to Odell H. (Curly) Bryant and Irene (Heap) Bryant as their first child.

Dawna married Henry Burnell Isom of Kanarraville, Utah on April 17, 1953.

Dawna loved to write and receive letters from friends and loved ones.

She wrote poetry and did beautiful artwork as well as crochet and needle point.

Her favorite thing to do was to go dancing, and listen to Elvis Presley.

Dawna was the fire chief of the first all-women’s fire department in Kanarraville Utah where she and her husband owned and operated the only grocery store.

When Dawna was born her parents paid the doctor and hospital bill all in pennies.

This is why her daughter's name is Penny.

Dawna is survived by her children Danny (Karen) Isom and Rickey Isom of Las Vegas Nevada, Jim of Duck Creek Village, Utah and Penny (Frank) Madrid of Leeds, Utah 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as her brother Garth (Dianne) Bryant and her sisters Linda (Theo) Tate and Pamela (Russell) Batt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Burnell, her brother Terry, sister Patricia (Patsy) Lee, and her granddaughter Patty Hardwick.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City, UT.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary.

On Wednesday, July 27, 2016 the viewing will be at the Mortuary prior to services from 11:30-12:30 pm.

Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
