Services for Oscar A. Severson, 81, a longtime resident of Geneva, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St., Geneva.

Born Nov. 20, 1916, in Roundup, Mont., to Maurice and Maude (Nee Parrot) Severson, he passed away Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva. Burial will follow the services in Resurrection Cemetery, Geneva.

Mr. Severson spent most of his early years at Mooseheart where he returned in 1958 to teach industrial arts, and also coach football and track, until his retirement in 1984. A 1939 graduate of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, he was also a Navy veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a longtime member of VFW Lodge #1197 and Moose Lodge #682 in Batavia.

Survivors include his sons, Gary Severson of Geneva, Fred (Theresa) Severson of Arizona, and Michael (Merilee) Severson of Geneva; grandchildren, Tracy Jayne of St. Charles, Mark of Spain, Patricia, Mike and Carly, all of Arizona, and Annie of Geneva.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mars (Ermma [sic, recte Erma]) Severson; sister, Stella Severson; and his beloved wife, Mary Agnes Severson (Nee Naab), who passed away in 1971.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mooseheart would be appreciated.
