A lifetime resident of Kanopolis, Melvin married Sharon L. Monfort in Ellsworth on October 12, 1984. He was a farmhand/ranchhand and a member of the United Methodist Church in Kanopolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; sisters, Roberta Hoss, and Phyllis Fleming; brother, Willard Hoss; and nephew, William Fleming.
