Reported age at time of death was 32 years, so evidently born about 1878. Daughter of J. J. & Dora A.(ADAMS) BLAKELY, who married 09 MAY 1878 in Lee County, Alabama. He is probably John James BLAKELEY.

Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Mrs. P. B. BLAKELY, married female, died aged 32 years at 637 20th Street [Columbus, Georgia], of pellagra; interred 17 FEB 1910 in Section A, Lot 153, by undertaker Torbett, per local death certificate #1982 - Sexton Emory JEFFERSON.

"MRS. P. B. CHILDS IS VICTIM OF PELLAGRA: Funeral Will Be Held Thursday Afternoon From Late Residence. // After an illness of a few days from pellagra, Mrs. P. B. CHILDS died at her home Wednesday morning at 10:50 o'clock, and the news of her death was received with sadness by her friends throughout the city. // Mrs. CHILDS was 32 years of age. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Rose Hill Baptist church, taking active and earnest interest in all things pertaining to its upbuilding and the furthering the cause of Christ. // The deceased is survived by her husband and one child, Lillian, a little girl about two and a half years of age. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Dora BLAKELY, and two brothers, Messrs. John D. and E. L. BLAKELY. // The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at three o'clock from the house and will be conducted by the Rev. Robert C. GRANBERRY, pastor of the Rose Hill Baptist church. Robert C. GRANBERRY, pastor of the Rose Hill Baptist church, and were very tender and impressive. // Interment was at Linwood and the following were pallbearers: Messrs. J. R. HENDLEY, James A. On the 1910 census of Ward 8, Militia District #773 (Upper Town District), Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, at 637 20th Street, Preston B. CHILDS (37, born Georgia, a widower employed as a commercial trucker of dry goods) heads a household with daughter Lillian CHILDS (2 GA) and mother-in-law Dora A. BLAKELY (54 AL, a widow who had borne 4 children, 2 of whom were still living) and an aunt & uncle, Mary K. ADAMS (40 AL) & Madison E. ADAMS (43 AL), who had been married 19 years; Mary had borne 5 children, 2 of whom were still living: Margarite ADAMS (14 GA) and Mary ADAMS (10 GA).

Because the marked BLAKELEY graves, which were omitted, are in a lot adjacent to Lots #39 and #41 but #40 was skipped in the numbering of lots in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" manuscript, as well as the published edition edited by Lea Dowd et al., it is assumed that the missing BLAKELEY lot is Lot 40.

Per South Carolina Death Index: Preston Senora [sic - Benona] CHILDS, married male (spouse Dora BYRD), son of John A. & Nancy Ann BURKS) CHILDS, died 09 MAY 1952, aged 79 years, in Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina. [He appears on the 1920 census of Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, with a wife Ethel B. CHILDS (born ca. 1892), and subsequently married Dora BYRD (1901-1988).
