"DAVID KEMP came to Ohio when twelve years of age, with his parents, his father [Joseph Kemp] purchasing 800 acres of land in Mad River township, and settling on section 22.... David Kemp grew to manhood on the old place and lived there many years, and then moved into Dayton.
Mr. Kemp was married 14 Nov 1867, to Miss Catherine Callahan, a native of South Carolina, and daughter of William and Sarah (Forest) Callahan, of Greenville district, that state, but afterward residents of Louisville, Ky. No children have been born to this marriage.... Both he and his wife were typical pioneers, well known for many miles around, and possessing the pioneer virtues of generosity and hospitality.
Mrs. Kemp is a member of the Baptist church, to which denomination her parents belonged."
