1935 ~ 2016
Paul passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 25, 2016 in Centerville Utah. Paul was born on June 15, 1935 to Lacell R and Ida Clegg Bird in Springville Utah. Paul married his one and only true love Norma Jean Mathis on June 26, 1955 in Las Vegas, NV. Their union was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Paul's children and especially his grand-children always came first to him. To his last days all dad wanted was to see each of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and to be with his family. Dad had a busy life from beginning to end taking care of his family by whatever means it meant to accomplish his goal. Dad wasn't afraid to handle anything in the outside world. He started at Baileys Moving & Storage in Provo, and was later transferred to the office in North Salt Lake. He has had various jobs up until he had to retire to take care of his wife. Dad was an outdoor enthusiast and looked forward each year for the deer hunt to take his boys up in the hills for a weekend of fun.
Paul Leaves behind four loving children; Dee Bird (Sheila), Allan Bird (Terri), Wendy Forbes (Don), and Todd Bird (Helen). Dad has 13 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, his wife, Norma, his parents, LaCell and Ida Bird, brother Blaine Bird, sister Carol Jackson and great-granddaughter Aspen Rosvall. Our thanks and prayers go out to those who have played a lasting role in Dad's and our lives. Special thank you to North Canyon Care Center for all the care and love you have given to our father over these past few years. Dad leaves behind so many great friends he made during that time. A huge thank you goes to Intermountain Hospice of Ogden for their great care and support in his last weeks, and to our sister, Wendy and her family for allowing Dad to come home and have the loving care of being around his family members during his last days. Thank you Wendy and Don.
