Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Burial will be in the Olin Cemetery, Olin, Iowa.
Marian Maxine Amend was born February 18, 1926, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of John and Mabel (Cook) Amend. She attended West Hale Country School and passed her GED later in life. She worked briefly at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids during World War II. She also worked at Schultz Brothers in Tipton, baked pies for several area restaurants and retired from Sheller-Globe in 1984. She married Ernest Kunde in 1944, in Tipton, and were later divorced. They had four children. She later married Kenneth Gene Volle in 1984, in Tipton. They resided in Holmesville, Nebraska, until his death on February 22, 2009. She then returned to Tipton, residing at Cedar Manor Nursing Home and enjoying many activities and family get-togethers. She was a loving homemaker who enjoying quilting, baking, reading, walking, faith and family. She attended Cedar Street Baptist Church in Tipton, and Church of the Brethren in Holmesville, Nebraska.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Larry) Koberg of Walcott, Connie Cox (Shawn Taylor) of Delhi, NY; and Sandy Kunde (Dan Luettjohann) of Tipton; one son, Gary Kunde (Cheryl VanZuiden) of Tipton; four grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Ehlers of Las Vegas, NV, Lisa (Rob) Ankney of Walcott, Aaron Kunde of Anamosa, Melissa Helmold (Brad Bahnsen) of Clarence; eight great-grandchildren; five step-children, Charlotte (Marvin) Wood of Palmyra, MO, Deanna Volle (Mark Burmeister) of Omaha, NE, Ken (Marty) Volle of Clearwater, FL, Ron (Kathy) Volle of Beatrice, NE, and Christopher (Jane) Volle of Forsyth, IL; one sister, Helen Wood of Ft. Wayne, IN; one brother, Robert Amend of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, step-family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-mother, her husband, one sister, Ruth Mae Hubler, one sister-in-law, Marcia Amend, and one brother-in-law, Walter Wood.
