Arlene was married to Alvin G. Marschel on September 8, 1956. They were blessed with four children; Rhonda Jo (Michael) Johnson, Dean Alvin (Susan) Marschel, Lynn William (Lisa) Marschel, and the late Larry Allan (Carol) Marschel. The sunshine of her life were her grandchildren; Stephanie (Matt) Whitehead, and the late Lauren Johnson, Scott (Aubrey) Johnson, Shawna (Billy) Rigney, Adam (fianace Teresa) Marschel, Jennifer (David) Trunk, Andrew, Lindsey, Lacey, Abby, Alex, and Emma Marschel. Great-grandchildren,; Lauren and KinleyWhitehead, Will Rigney, Olivia and Baby-on-the-way Trunk.
Arlene was the dear sister of Shirley A. (the late George) Christ, and the late Ada and Paul Kneff. She leaves one sister-in-law, Beatrice (Ervin) Baumbach. She was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-laws Alice and Luther Davis and Mildred and William Christ. She also is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Arlene was a lifelong (5th generation) member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Otto, MO. She served on various committees throughout her life. She was a current member of the Mastodon Park Committee. In 1976, Arlene was instrumental, working with Dorothy Heinze, the Dept. of Natural Resources, the local State Representatives and Senators to purchase 200+ acres now known as Sandy Creek Historic Site and the total rehab of the Covered Bridge at Goldman by contractor Dan Govero. Their goal was to save some of Jefferson County's precious land for our future children to explore and enjoy. The bridge was also very special to Arlene and the community of people she loved. Arlene was called on to research and help with saving the Victoria Glade from development, working with The Nature Conservancy of Missouri and Dorothy Heinze.
Arlene retired in January 2001 as a realtor with Gundaker Realtors in Hillsboro. In the year before she retired, she was named "2000 Realtor of the Year" for Jefferson County.
