Preston Wayne Burnette, 74, of Amherst, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Margaret Campbell Burnette.
Born in Lynchburg July 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Clarence Otis Burnette and Annie Daniel Beard. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Clarence Beard. Preston was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry.
He is survived by his son, Wayne Burnette of Madison Heights; one sister, Barbara Preston of Roanoke; two step-sisters, Helen Nichols of Rustburg and Phyllis Martin of Lynchburg and a number of nieces and nephews. He was also survived by a dear special friend Julia Bryant and her family of Madison Heights.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Todd Blake officiating. Interment will follow in Allwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
