"John Culpeper, merchant, baptized at Harrietsham, Kent, 26 Oct. 1606. He was admitted to the Middle Temple in 1621. He married Mary (Unknown). Part owner with his brother Thomas of the ship Thomas and John, in the Virginia trade."

No issue - descendants are of his brother Thomas Culpepper

"He is believed to be identical with the John Culpeper who was Sheriff and Clerk of Northumberland County, Virginia, 1671-1674."

His wife Mary was a widow in 1675 when she petitioned the Council for an allowance from his estate.
