In 1850, Samuel Glover, aged 62, was living in Galen, Wayne, NY with his wife, Mercy Glover, aged 61, and children, Mary, 30, and Conklin Glover, aged 27. Also living in the household was George Britner, aged 20. Samuel was shown to be a farmer.

The Will of Samuel Glover- I, Samuel Glover, of Galen, Wayne County, New York, being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following to wit.
First- My executors hereinafter named shall pay all my debts and my financial expenses as soon after my decease as convenient.
Second- I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife, Mercy all the household furniture and gold and silver money of which I may be possessed at the time of my decease.
Third- My executors shall within such time as they deem sensible not exceeding one year convert all my personal property into money and shall invest fifteen hundred dollars thereof in bonds and mortgages one or more on unencumbered real estate in the county of Wayne and keep the same so invested on lands worth at least double the amount so loaned upon them for and during the natural life of my said wife. The interest thereof shall be payable to her in lieu of dower, and after her decease the said sum of fifteen hundred dollars shall be equally divided among my four children, Jeremiah, Conklin, Mary and Eleanor.
Fourth- Within one year and a half after my proof of will my said executor shall pay out of the proceeds of my personal property if there be sufficient therefor to my son Conklin one thousand dollars and to my daughter Mary five hundred dollars. The residue and remainder of my property both real and personal shall be divided by my executors equally among my three children Jeremiah, Conklin and Mary and the children of my daughter Eleanor- that is to say- the money realized from my personal property shall be paid one fourth part thereof to Jeremiah, one fourth part to Conklin and one fourth part to Mary and one fourth part shall be invested by my executors in bond and mortgages on real estate twice its value in Wayne County and not encumbered and the interest thereof payable to my daughter Eleanor Mead, wife of Andrew Mead of Galen and the principal thereof on the decease of my said daughter shall be divided equally among her children who shall be then living. And my real estate shall be divided in the same manner as above provided in regard to my personal property except that the one fourth part thereof shall remain in the hands of my executor during the life of my daughter Eleanor and then be conveyed by them to her children then living unless she shall choose to have the same sold and the avails thereof invested as is provided in regard to the avails of her share of the personal property. But if she prefers it she shall have the use of her portion of the real estate during her natural life without a sale thereof. But if there is not sufficient of my personal property to pay the legacies herein before provided for my son Conklin and my daughter Mary and the said sum of fifteen hundred dollars to be invested for my said wife then there shall be sold by my executor so much of the real estate as may be necessary to make up the deficiency. An in the divisions of my real estate if any disagreement shall arise my said executors shall select one man, a farmer, and the other persons or party interested shall select another and the two so chosen will select the third and the three persons so chosen shall make partition of all my real estate and it shall be equal shares and share alike quality and quantity, relatively considered. And I do further decree that my executors shall convey said real estate after such division and according thereto.
Sixth- I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Conklin Glover and my friend Aaron T. Hendrick both of Galen the executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me.
Witness my hand and seal this seventeenth day of August in the year Eighteen Hundred and Fifty-Two. Samuel Glover. X (his mark).
