Freda M. Rardin, 95, of Charleston, Illinois, formerly of Kansas, Illinois passed away at 7:03 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Hilltop Convalescent Center in Charleston. She was a homemaker.

She was born December 4, 1914 in Clark County, Illinois, the daughter of the late Willis and Sylvia A. Baker. She married H. P. "Tubby" Rardin on June 7, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He preceded her in death June 12, 2006.

Freda was the proud mother of five boys. Three survive, Pierce (Norma) Rardin, Dean (Carol) Rardin and Russell (Emily) Rardin. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Ellen Rardin of Kansas.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Max and Gerald Rardin; an infant daughter, Alice Rardin; two sisters, Evelyn Morecraft and Vera Dunn and an infant brother.

Some of Freda's best days were spent living on the south end of Kansas raising her children alongside the Bennetts and the Motleys. When her grandchildren came along, she was busy hosting cookouts and family dinners and sewing gigantic frogs and pajamas. She loved her family dearly and they were always her top priority.

Mrs. Rardin was a member of Kansas Christian Church where she was a member of the Pollyanna Sunday School class and a past president of Chrisitian Women's Fellowship. She was a member of Kansas Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 774 since 1946 and was a past Worthy Matron. She was also active in the Kansas PTA for many years. She especially enjoyed playing Bunco and gardening.
