Mrs. RUTH M. POFFINBERGER, 81, of 201 W. Main St., Middletown, died Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the Meridian Nursing Center, Frederick. She was the wife of R. LeRoy Poffinberger who predeceased her on March 2, 1979. Born in Middletown, June 10, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Lester R. and Estelle M. Young Ahalt.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.
She is survived by four daughters, R. Eloise Grove, Frederick; Joyce L. Hale, Middletown; Jean E. Gilbert, Woodbridge, Va.; Alice L. Fisher, Frederick; one son, Barry R. Poffinberger, Jefferson; four sisters, Marceline Bell, Knoxville; Dorothy Stebbins, Miamisburg, Oh.; Eleanor Biser, Jefferson; Adrienne Rhoderick, Middletown; one brother, Dorsey Y. Ahalt, Middletown; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Leon and Austin Ahalt.
Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown; interment in the Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown; arrangements were by Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown.
