Born in Augusta, GA, Mr. Mahlstedt was the son of the late Nickolaus H. Mahlstedt, Sr. and Lucille Crawford Mahlstedt. He was the widower of Betty Adams Mahlstedt. He was a graduate of Newberry College and USC Law School. Mr. Mahlstedt retired from Ohio Casualty Insurance Co. where he was a district claims manager. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Mahlstedt was also preceded in death by his sister, Rose Marie Cliett.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Henderson (David); 2 sons, Rick Mahlstedt and James Mahlstedt; and his 5 grandchildren, Nickolaus, A.J., Megan, and Abby Henderson, Maggie Mahlstedt, Darcy Phillips, and Ashley Whitacre.
Burial: Bethany UMC Cemetery in Saluda, SC.
