Joyce E. Black, Brownsville, PA formerly of Easton, PA died peacefully on July 9, 2016 She was born Monday, April 24, 1944 in Brownsville, PA, a daughter of the late Albert F. Black and Ella V. (Wilyard) Black.

Joyce was a lifetime member of both the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and the Northampton County Chapter, where she served on the Ways and Means Committee. She was an elementary teacher for 40 years in the Nazareth Area School District (NASD), 7 at the Hecktown School and 33 at the lower Nazareth Elementary School. She truly enjoyed teaching and helping students. With her great writing abilities, she helped with the NASD paper and the Lower Nazareth School paper. She was very well liked and respected by her peers and students. She was very active in tennis at the Northwood Racquet Club, where her team won regions twice. Upon retirement, she played tennis 4-5 times a week. She was liked by everyone.

Left to cherish her memory are two sisters and two brothers; Marian Lyons and husband Bernard of Landover, MD, David Black and wife Betty Jane of Charleroi, PA, James Black and wife Gayle of Salisbury, MD, and Eadi Zetty and husband Harry (Pick) of Brownsville, PA. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and great nephews.

Friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 6-8 pm, and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Ft. Burd United Presbyterian Church, 200 Thornton Road, Brownsville, at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 14, 2016 with Rev. Katy Brungraber officiating. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church on Thursday morning. Interment will follow in Westland Cemetery, Centerville, PA.
