Roswell King "Ross" Hart was the son of Henry James Hart and Barbara Lambeth Hart of Craven County, NC; husband of Mary Jane Beal Hart whom he married in 3 Feb 1859 in Greene County, MO and father of Alvoree "Ally" Hart, Samuel Kirtis "Sammy" Hart, Nancy Abaline "Nanny" Hart, Holly Ann "Hallie" Hart, Andrew "Andy" Thomas Hart, and William Henry Hart

Roswell was buried on 9 Jan 1927.

Roswell was a farmer served in the 16th Missouri Cavalry, Union Army during the Civil War and in August 1864 was made Adjutant General. He was a scout for General Lyon before the Battle of Wilson Creek.
