Charlotte Gerling
Charlotte E. Gerling, 72, of Burlington, died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born April 13, 1928, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William and Anna Schulz Hartman. On Feb. 23, 1949, she married Donald Gerling.
Mrs. Gerling was a cook for Huron Elementary, 34 Truck Stop, Danville Cafe and the Holiday Inn in Burlington.
She enjoyed family, friends, playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, David Gerling, Terry Gerling, Bill Wilson and Tim Gerling, all of Burlington; one daughter, Trina Gabeline of Burlington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Wasson Hawbaker of Dallas Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Gerling will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Beth Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in rural Danville.
A memorial has been established for Mediapolis Fire and Ambulance Service.
