Colonel Edward Haight, a member of the New York Stock Exchange and well known in the Grand Army circle, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Rockwell, in Manhattan, from complication of diseases.
Colonel Haight was born in this city, October 29, 1840, the son of Edward and Sarah Burgoyne Haight, of Westchester. On February 28, 1868, he married Annie Weston of Lurgan, Ireland, who died March 13, 1905. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Rockwell, and a son Louis Haight.
Colonel Haight when the Civil War began was commissioned first lieutenant in the Sixteenth United State Infantry. He was promoted to be major and then lieutenant colonel of the Sixteenth United State Infantry for gallant and meritorious service on May 5, 1865.
He was a member of the Stock Exchange, a companion of the military order of the Loyal Legion, and was adjutant of the George Washing Post 163, G. A. R., for eighteen years. The funeral services will be held in the Church of Heavenly Rest, on Monday morning at 10 o'clock.
