In Memory of
Ingram Dickinson, age 87, of Atlanta, died Wednesday at Canterbury Court retirement home.
Ingram Dickinson was born April 12, 1905, in Boston, Mass., and graduated from Amherst College. He moved to Atlanta to join the family business and became chief executive officer in 1933.
He retired in 1983 as chairman of Southern Belting and Transmission Company, which made belts and transmissions for cotton mill machinery.
Mr. Dickinson was a former president of the National Industrial Belting Association and also belonged to the American Textile Association, Kiwanis, Capital City Club, Piedmont Driving Club and First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Blair Dickinson; a son, Dr. John I. Dickinson of Rome, Ga.; three daughters, Carolyn Tynes of Birmingham, Ala., and Martha Griffin and Jane Scruggs, both of Atlanta; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today at Arlington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to Canterbury Court, 3750 Peachtree Court NE, Atlanta 30319.
