The following biographical information was copied from The Pastor's Helper, St. John's Lutheran Church, Clearfield, PA, Vol. 75, No. 345, April, 1950. Emma Jane Snook Fehl was born September 11, 1861 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Cupp in Juniata, February 28, 1950. While visiting her daughters in Juniata and Altoona she suffered a stroke and lingered in an unconscious state for a week when death claimed her. She is survived by the following children: Harry Fehl, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Mabel Cupp, Juniata; Mrs. Mary Gipe, Altoona; Mrs. Clara Moore, Clearfield; Mrs. Celia Atkins, Youngstown; Mrs. Alice Brown, Spring Church; Mrs. Eva Manguson, Clearfield; William Fehl, Vandergrift; George Fehl of Clearfield. Twenty-seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and three great, great, grandchildren survive, along with two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Westaby, Salem, Oregon; Mrs. Sadie Keneally, John Day, Oregon. Mother Fehl was a most unusual person in that she always faced her troubles with a smile and always kept looking on the bright side of life. She never complained that her cross was too heavy, but always said, "Everything will come out all right," Perhaps the heaviest cross that was laid upon her was when she lost her voice so that she could not sing. She loved to sing. She had a beautiful Christian spirit and was loved by all who knew her. Funeral services were held from her home and the Church she loved on Friday afternoon, March 3, after which the body was laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery.
