Given the name "Nelakazuruk," by the Alaskan natives, he was the first white male infant to be born in the settlement of Cape Prince of Wales.
He was a reporter, archivist and advertising director for the Meriden Record newspaper. Son of Florence Leonard and Hugh J. Lee; he married the society editor of the Meriden Record, Isyla Powers.
