SAN FRANCISCO April 5--Mrs. Elizabeth Tobey Bliss, one of the few women railroad residents in the world, and a pioneer of California, died this morning at her residence, 2898 Broadway. She was 81 years old on April 3. For the past several months she has been in failing health.
Mrs. Bliss was president of the Lake Tahoe Railroad Company. Her husband, the late D. L. Bliss, was founder of the company and builder of Tahoe Inn. The family is intimately associated with early history in California and Nevada where Bliss had large mining interests. He belonged to that distinguished group of pioneers whose fame will live in the annals of the Pacific Coast.
Four sons and a daughter survive Mrs. Bliss. They are William s., Charles T., Walter D., Duane L. and Miss Hope Bliss. The grandchildren are Will M. Bliss and Miss Elizabeth Bliss.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be private.
