Robert Lee Gardner, 89, of Rarden, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at his home. He was born December 1, 1926 in McDermott, Ohio son of Reverend Edgar and Cora Gardner. He is survived by his wife Anna Jean Kates Gardner of 70 years, his daughter and son-in-law Kristina and David Adams of Waverly, Ohio, twin grandsons, retired US Army Captain Todd Adams of Waverly and Brian Adams of Newnan, Georgia and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Verna Jones, Helen Francia and Velma White. Robert was a WWII Army Veteran. He retired from the N & W railroad and was a member of the Rarden Volunteer fire department for 35 years, becoming fire chief. He was an active member of the Rarden United Methodist Church for many years. Robert will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Rarden United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Williams and Reverend Tom Williams officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Robert will be laid to rest at the Newman Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway, Ohio.
