Wendelin B. Fischer, 87, died November 13, 2006 at a Strasburg Care Center.

Wendelin was born January 1, 1919 at Hague, ND, the son of Adam and Emilia Fischer. He has lived in Emmons County all his life. He attended Public Grade School.

Wendelin married Magdalena Rohrich at St. Aloysius Catholic Church east of Strasburg on October 26, 1939. They farmed for 25 years. In 1964 they moved to Strasburg, where Wendelin worked at Emmons Central High School for many years.

He served on the School Board of Odessa School District and also was a board member of Emmons County Welfare and Strasburg Nursing Home. Wendelin was on the BEK Telephone Nominating Committee for four years. He was an Honorary Life Member of Knights of Columbus and served as trustee at St. Aloysius Church. They moved to Linton in 1979 where he was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He became a Senior Citizen Club Board member and served as President of the club.

Magdalena died November 13, 2000.

Wendelin enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and going fishing. Cooking was also a favorite hobby.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law: LeRoy and Helen Fischer of Hague, ND and David Fischer of Bismarck, ND; six daughters and three sons-in-law: Yvonne Gefroh of Chandler, AZ, Janice Holte of Fargo, ND, Isabel and Chuck Stout of Olathe, KS, Virginia Schaefer of MI, Eleanor and Ken Feist of Middleton, WI, Barbara and Dan Silbernagel of West Fargo, ND; one foster child: Bill Gereszek and his wife, Sally of Bismarck, ND; 26 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; one sister and two brothers-in-law: Cecilia and Ferdinand Buechler of Strasburg, ND and Frank Kiefer of Strasburg, ND; and sister-in-law: Isabel Fischer of Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Magdalena, one grandson, Joshua Silbernagel, two brothers, Ray and Pete; three sisters, Elizabeth, Barbara and Eugenia and two sons-in-law: Al Gefroh and Gene Schaefer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2006 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
