Mrs. Stephen Adee, for many years a valued resident of Sycamore, died at her home on West High street on Friday morning, January 29.

For the past six months she had been in poor health and her death, while a great shock, was not unexpected. Laura Tindall was born in Tecumseh, Michigan, January 20, 1836, being the eldest of eight children born to Jesse and Mary Tindall, pioneer residents of DeKalb county.

Her brothers and sisters surviving are: Thomas of Lawrence, Kan., Mrs. Elizabeth Milner and Orlando of Zion City, Ill., Adelbert of Denver, Col., Hon. George M. of South Grove and Mrs. Carrie Atwood of Pasadena, Cal.

She was married to Stephen Adee January 3, 1856, and resided at South Grove until 1869, when they removed to Sycamore. Her husband died eleven years ago.

Five children were born to them, two of whom survive: Mrs. Mary Wollaber of Mohawk, N.Y., and Charles Adee of this place.

Mrs. Adee joined the Methodist church in 1855 and remained a loyal and faithful member until the time of her death.

I do not manage the memorials for Laura's husband, Stephen, her son, Charles, or her parents. I include their obituaries here.

Stephen Adee, another of the earliest settlers of DeKalb county, member of a well-known and influential pioneer family, died at his home in Sycamore yesterday morning.

He had not been robust for many years, and had retired from active farm work and moved to Sycamore; but his health had not been really feeble until within about two years, when his strength seemed to fail and for a few months just past he had been confined to the home.

Stephen Adee was born in Delaware county, N.Y. in 1827, his parents being Jonathan and Jane (Thompson) Adee, who were farmers, and to whom were born twelve children. When Stephen was a youth of 16, the family removed to this county, arriving here in the fall of 1843, and settled in South Grove township.

Stephen Adee early acquired the habits of thrift and economy so necessary to success in pioneer days. He bought a piece of unbroken prairie and went to work. He prospered as his talents deserved. In the year 1869 he removed from the farm to Sycamore and this had ever since been his home.

In 1856 he married Laura, daughter of Jesse and Mary Tindall. Besides the widow, there are surviving two children, Mrs. Mary A. Wollaber, of New York State, and Charles S. Adee of Sycamore.

The funeral services will be from the house Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
