CALLAN, Helen - Passed away at the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce, Owen Sound on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016. The former Helen Elizabeth Sprague (nee Bucholtz), of RR#1 Durham, in her 74th year.
Beloved wife of the late John R. "Jack" Callan and beloved partner of the late Alex Talbot.
Loving mother of Brad Sprague and his wife Darlene of Walkerton, Bruce Sprague and his friend Wendy of Annan and Flo Sprague of Durham.
Cherished grandmother of Josh, Hayley and Helanna. Great-grandmother of Nathan, Dakota and Abel. Dear sister of Pat and Bern Hartman of Hanover.
Visitation was held at the MCCULLOCH-WATSON FUNERAL HOME , Durham on Thursday, July 7 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Friday, July 8 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A celebration of Helen's life was held at Trinity Anglican Church, Durham on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Rev. JoAnn Todd officiated and Carolyn Nixon played the organ.
The flower bearers were Helena Sprague, Hailey Sprague, Michelle MacGillivray, Florence Sprague, Darlene Sprague, Pat Hartman and Wendy Wilcox. Brad Sprague was a honourary pall bearer and the pall bearers were Bernie Hartman, Danny Hartman, Bruce Sprague, Josh Sprague, Bill Bucholtz and Chad Pegelo.
Committal service and interment was held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Carlsruhe. Florence Sprague released a single dove at the cemetery and Bill McMeekin played "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Trinity Anglican Church Durham or to Durham and Community Health Care Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
