Gerald E. Topper Jr., 75, of Neelyton, died at 8:56 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Gilchrist Hospice Care, Towson, Md.

Born Dec. 20, 1936, in Hanover, York County, he was the son of the late Gerald and Geraldine (Livelsberger) Topper. He was united in marriage to the former Debbie J. Fleagle July 7, 1975, in Hagerstown, Md. His wife survives at their home.

Mr. Topper is survived by his children, Gerald E. Topper III of Hampstead, Md., Patricia A. Topper of Mount Holly, N.C., Helen T. Ryan of Cockeysville, Md., Louis M. Topper of Bel Air, Md., Catherine M. Gischel of Baltimore, Md., Jeffrey C. Topper of Rising Sun, Md., and Clifford G. Topper of Port LaBelle, Fla., and 13 grandchildren.

He is also survived by four siblings, Geraldine E. Doran of Westminster, Md., Philip E. Topper of Fallston, Md., Theresa A. Storke of White Hall, Md., and Michael H. Topper of Vero Beach, Fla.

Mr. Topper was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orbisonia.

He was a veteran of the Maryland National Guard.

Mr. Topper had been a member of the German-American Social Club, Cape Coral, Fla., various Lions Clubs in Pennsylvania and Florida, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Institute of Internal Auditors.

He first retired from the United States Army Audit Agency as a managing auditor. Mr. Topper was then employed by the Lee County Clerk of Courts, Fort Myers, Fla., until his retirement.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 20896 Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Father Joseph Nale officiating. Committal will be made in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, adjoining the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Topper may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Guild, 20896 Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, PA 17243.
