Mr. Addison G. Player, Sr., 91, of Rockingham passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016. He was born June 8, 1925, son of the late Grover and Bessie Cole Player.

Mr. Player was a member of East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church and was retired with J. P. Stevens. He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy.

Services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, July 8th at East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating and interment to follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

Mr. Player is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lunceford Player; children, Addison (Carolyn) Player, Jr. of Hamlet, Doris (Keith) Thorneloe of Weaverville, and Kathy Bryant of Asheboro; grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn (Robert) Emery, Addison James (Christinna) Player, Stuart (Rebecca) Thorneloe, David (Amy) Thorneloe, and Ronnie (Aimee) Chavis; great grandchildren, Logan James Emery, Jacob Hunter Emery, Alexander James Player, Lindsey Thorneloe, Kristen Thorneloe, Caitlyn Thorneloe, Baby Boy Thorneloe (due July 19th), Kylie Chavis, and Dylan Foster.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham is assisting the Player family.
