MRS. LENA T. CRAWFORD
Mrs. Lena Therrell Crawford, 78, died at the residence of her son, R. L. Crawford, McCluer Road, Jackson, at 12 noon September 4, after an illness some duration. She was a native of Clark County, born December 18, 1879, to the late Billy and Elizabeth Mayfield Therrell. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Newton County, and had resided in the county for many years.
Mrs. Crawford leaves three other sons, Charles E. of Birmingham, Ala., T. A. of Decatur, and C. W. Crawford of Jackson; three daughters, Mrs. Frances Arterberry of Jackson, Mrs. M. E. McMullan of Decatur, and Mrs. P. E. Morgan of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Louis of West Enterprise, and Fred Therrell of Shubuta; two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Crawford of Brookhaven and Mrs. G. O. Robinson of Laurel; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Charlie A. Crawford, preceded her in death.
Her funeral was held at the Pleasant Ridge Church, north of Hickory, at 3 p. m. Friday, September 5, with the Rev. John W. Cook of Decatur officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with grandsons serving as active pall bearers.
The body was carried from the Hutson Funeral Home, Newton, to the residence of her son, T. A. Crawford, in the Oakland, Community, Decatur, and it lay in state there until the service hour.
