DIANE COOPER (nee Bailey) - 60, of Cold Spring, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2016. “Miss Diane” as she was affectionately known was a lifelong resident of the Cape May area. She had a Heart of Gold, her love for children began while teaching Sunday school at Tabernacle Church.

She graduated from Lower Cape May Regional High School in 1974 and later graduated from Glassboro State Teacher’s College (now Rowan University) with a degree in teaching. After graduating college, Diane taught at Cape Christian Academy, Friendly Forrest Day Care and later owned and operated Erma Day Care. Finishing her teaching career at Glenwood Avenue Elementary School in Wildwood where she was also their NJEA Union Representative.

Diane also worked for many years at Shoprite in Rio Grande. She was a devoted member of Cape Island Baptist Church, faithfully teaching Sunday school for many years. She will always be remembered for her kindness and loving nature she showed to everyone. Her smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is predeceased by her mother, Becky Bailey (2011).

Diane is dearly missed by her loving family which includes her husband of 25 years, George; children, Stefan Cooper (Lisa), Sueyen Cooper, Barbara Flinchum, Chantalle Cooper, Francesca Torres-Cooper; father, Lewis Bailey, Sr. (Marion); siblings, Lewis Bailey, Jr. (Gail), James Bailey (Debbie), Lorna Hawk (Cheyenne) and Joseph Bailey (Andy Bolton); 10 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Diane’s funeral ceremony will take place on Friday (July 8th) at 12 noon at Cape Island Baptist Church, 115 Gurney St, Cape May where there will be a viewing from 10am to 11:45am.

Interment will be private and at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to: Cape Island Baptist Church, 115 Gurney St., Cape May, NJ 08204 or to Cape Christian Academy, 10 Oyster Rd., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
