Mr. Burton was a native of Hancock County and had lived in Mississippi after retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy. where he worked at Engles Shipyard for a number of years before returning to Hancock County in 1985. He was a member of Culverton Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joe Burton and Sara, his wife Pat and brother Sterling.
Survivors include his daughter, Nancy (James) Moss of Sparta; son, Robert Burton of Wisconsin; sister Doris (Doyle) Boyer of Sparta; Grandchildren, Rebecca and Samantha Macintyre, Sara Moss, Bobby, Brandon, Colton and Patrick Burton; great grandchildren, Victoria, Aliyah, Maddox, Sammi, Jack, Joshiah, Kyanna and Noah.
