Freida J. Williams, age 71, of Heflin, Alabama, formerly of Bremen, Georgia, passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 30, 2016 at Tanner Medical Center Carrollton. She was born May 14, 1945 in the Waco, Georgia, the daughter of the late Cecil Bates and the late Ruby Lillian King Bates. She attended Tallapoosa High School and in her working career, she was a self-employed housekeeper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John Fanchier; a brother, Jerry Williams; sister, Jean Chase; and brothers-in-law: Charles Johnson and Larry Lipscomb. Survivors include Ralph Wade, the “love of her life for twenty-six years”; her daughter, Melanie Britt Fanchier of Missouri; sisters and brother-in-law: Linda Johnson of Sharpsburg, Georgia, Geraldine Lipscomb of Bremen, and Edyth and Sam Little of Newnan, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, James and Julie Bates of Newnan, Georgia; grandchildren: John Fanchier of Tallapoosa, Georgia and Tiffani Chalmers of Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes, the body will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
