Dawson- Mrs. Jimmie Burnham Scott, 94, of Dawson, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 30, 2016 at Dawson Health and Rehabilitation in Dawson.

A graveside funeral service will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 2, 2016 with Pastor David Unkles officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A. M. at Harvey Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Scott was born in Puckett Mississippi on April 8, 1922, daughter of the late Carr H. Burnham and Lucille Thompson Burnham. She worked at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi while her husband, Charles Edwin "Tommy" Scott, was serving in the Medical Corps of the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. After the war was over, she attended the University of Georgia until her husband graduated from the School of Pharmacy at UGA.

In 1954, she moved to Dawson with her husband and one year old son, Charles, to assume ownership of the Dawson Pharmacy where she worked, served the community she loved, and remained dedicated to, for the rest of her life. She was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church for many years. She was honored at an event for "Rosie Riveters" at the Thomas Library, Thomasville, Georgia on March 12, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Joel H. Burnham, a sister, Opie B. Allen, and her beloved husband "Tommy" Scott who passed away in 2014.

Survivors include her son, Charles Edwin Scott and his wife, Tamara Heath Scott of Dawson, and a brother, Henry Carr Burnham of Ft. Worth, Texas.
