Edward Patterson Davis was called into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5:8), June 21, 2016 at the Johnson Center in Falcon’s Landing Retirement Community, Potomac Falls, VA. Ed was born in El Paso, TX, and raised in Pasadena, CA. His parents were Church of the Nazarene missionaries, so Ed grew up knowing English and Spanish equally well. Ed quarterbacked football in high school. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 and was sent to the Pacific Theater as a photo-reconnaissance pilot of the P-38 Lightning (F-5).

He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1947, and married Elizabeth Van Vranken the next day. They moved to Washington, DC so Ed could attend American University, where he studied for a PhD.

He joined the Pan American Union, General Secretariat of the Organization of American States there, where he served for 33 years before retirement. He continued service in the US Air Force Reserves for over 20 years. They were active in their church, 4th Presbyterian in Bethesda, and were strong supporters and members of Wycliffe Bible Translators. Ed fathered four children, two girls and two boys.

The Davis' lived in Arlington until moving to their small working farm, "Fair Havens," near Leesburg, VA, in 1986, where they raised Christmas trees, cattle, horses & hay. They retired to Falcons Landing in 1998, where they have been active ever since. Ed founded an ecumenical bible study there, and helped establish the new community. Ed is survived by his wife Elizabeth and three of their four children.

In lieu of flowers Ed and the family would appreciate gifts to Wycliffe Bible Translators ( www.wycliffe.org ).
