Sarah Amanda Miles was born in 1853 the daughter of Eli Miles (1817-1901) and Nancy Luellen Miles (1820-1898).

She married John M Bolton on August 22, 1868 and they had three children: Alice Leuretta Bolton Cummings Wixson (1869-1951), John Wesley Bolton (1872-1951) and Caroline Bolton (1873-1880). In 1875 John went to town for a plug of tobacco and did not come back.

After John deserted her Sarah had a relationship with Charles Hanson and they had a son Charles Hanson about 1878. He is listed as Charles Bolton on the 1880 Census.

On September 6, 1880 she married Charles Lauman (1846-1919) and they had one daughter, Minnie Lauman Diegleman Knight (1881-1945).

Sometime before the 1920 Census she reunited with John M and they were together until his death in 1925.

Sarah passed away December 3, 1937 at her home in Lawrence, Kansas. She is survived by two daughters Alice Bolton Cummings Wixson and Minnie Lauman Diegleman Knight both of Lawrence and two sons John W Bolton of Lawrence and Charles Hanson of Minneapolis, Kansas; 22 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Sarah is buried in Oakhill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas in the family plot of her son-in-law Robert Knight. There is not a marker for Sarah's grave.
