Luna M. Bennett, age 92, of Cross Timbers, MO, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehab Center in Hermitage, MO. She was born on June 7, 1924, in Jordon, MO, the daughter of Edward and Effie Garner Brooks.

She grew up in the Jordon Community and on October 7, 1939, was married to Herbert Bennett at Warsaw, MO. They made their home on the farm near Cross Timbers where she was a homemaker and mother to their two sons, Carl and Curtis.

In the early 1960’s, the family moved to Independence, MO, where she worked for a short time for Gold Bond Stamp redemption center and later was a CNA for the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1986. Following retirement, they returned to the farm near Cross Timbers.

Luna enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, crocheting, and playing cards. She loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, on June 3, 1999, twin infant sons, Hubert and Herbert Bennett, three brothers, Clark Brooks, Clyde Brooks, Kenneth Brooks, three sisters, Ethel Spencer, Fern Ruth and Lee Mock along with five infant siblings.

She is survived by two sons, Carl Bennett and wife, Beth, of Lee’s Summit, MO, Curtis Bennett, and wife, Nancy, of Cross Timbers, MO, five grandchildren, Holly Salmon and husband, Ralph, Jennifer Melton and husband, Jeff, Curtis (Bud) Bennett, Schelly Ethetton and husband, David, and Tim Bennett and three step-grandchildren, Iris Potter, Ian Potter and Holli Potter, eleven great-grandchildren, Edmond Salmon, Phillip Salmon, Ashley How, Jonathan How, Caden Bennett, Alex Bennett, Jacqueline Bennett, Kylee Ellis, Kaleb Ethetton, Kellen Ethetton and Jade Bennett, four step-great-grandchildren, Addison Potter, Harris Potter, Kaiya Potter and Kaden Pyant, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Luna Bennett will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO, with Rev. Jackie Davis, officiating. Burial will be in the Cross Timbers Cemetery, Cross Timbers, MO. Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 10:00 A.M. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Cross Timbers Cemetery in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
