Ignacio Rafael Alvarado y (?) was born at Real de Santa Ana (not far from La Paz) about 1745. He was the son of soldado Miguel Alvarado (c. 1715-After 1752, Baja California). Ignacio enlisted as a soldado de cuera at Loreto Presidio about 1765. Ignacio may have accompanied Lieutenant Rivera y Moncada to San Diego in 1769. He appears on the San Diego Presidio roster dated January 1, 1775 as a soldado, and as a sargento in the Census of 1790. He retired from military to a plot of land at Los Angeles, where he died in early October 1819. Ignacio was buried in the San Gabriel Mission Cemetery on October 3, 1819 (SG Death 04193).
