Vera Alice Haynes, age 91, of Skiatook, died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Skiatook Nursing Home. Vera was born December 17, 1924 in Leedey, Oklahoma to George and Lillian Viola (Woods) Parker.

She grew up and received her education in Leedey. Vera married George Lawrence Haynes on October 13, 1944. Vera was a homemaker of the home and was also known as Rosie the riveter working at Tinker field during the war. Vera liked gardening, working in her flower beds, spending time with family and taking care of her grandchildren.

Vera was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband and by four sisters.

Vera is survived by her four children: Judy Kay Thornton, Jerry Duwayne Haynes, Peggy Sue Miller and Reta Marlene Scherwinski, one brother: Clarence Parker, two sisters: Mary Allison and Carol Ann Douglas, seven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, four great- great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2014 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Butler, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery.
