Funeral Monday for Mrs. Harold Hoglund

Funeral services were held Monday, September 12 at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Harold (Lisa) Hoglund, age 83, of Bowbells, who died on Thursday, September 8 in the Kenmare hospital.

Rev. Richard Broen officiated, a vocal trio of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Berg and Mrs. Grace Melby, sang and Mrs. Muriel Johnson was organist. Pallbearers were Douglas Hoglund, Bob Carlson, Raymond Larson, Maynard Olson, Robert Sundin and Jerry Melby. Interment was in the Bowbells Cemetery with Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lisa Sorlie was born March 1, 1900, at Belgrade, Minnesota, a daughter of Peter and Inga Sorlieo She moved with her parents to Burke County in 1903 to farm. She attended high school in Bowbells and graduated from Kenmare 'High School. She later earned a-teaching certificate at Dakota Northwestern University, Minot and taught in Coteau, Columbus, Noonan, Donnybrook, and Lignite. She married Harold Hoglund June 8, 1933, in Bowbells. They have lived in Coteau and Bowbells for the last five years.

She was a member of Bethlehem Church.

Survivors include her husband; sister, Sophie Swenson, Polson, Montana.

HAROLD and LISA HOGLUND

Harold was born at Wilmar, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hoglund who were immigrants from Sweden in the early 1900's.

The family moved to North Dakota and lived in Burke County until they moved to a farm near Weyburn, Sask. where they made their home for a number of years.

In 1922 Harold moved back to North Dakota and began farming in Ward Township. In 1933 he married Lisa Sorlie, they continued farming until 1946 when due to illness he discontinued farming and moved to Coteau.

In 1954 he began working with the North Dakota State Highway Department and continued working until 1967 when he retired.

Lisa was born at Belgrade, Minn. to Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Sorlie. In the early 1900's she came to North Dakota with her parents at which time they settled on a homestead in Roseland Township where they lived for a number of years. In 1920 she graduated from high schoo1 and afterwards taught school in Ward Township.

She attended Minot State College after which she was an elementary teacher at Coteau, G1enburn and Columbus, N. Dak., public school systems. In 1933 she married Harold Hoglund and lived on the farm until 1946 when they moved to Coteau.

In 1954 she again began teaching at Noonan, Donnybrook and Lignite Public School systems. In 1966 she retired from teaching and they are now making their home at Coteau, N. Dak.
