Lester had four brothers and three sisters. He had many kinds of jobs including mechanic, teacher, farmer. and delivering ice (in Tucson). He collected stamps, coins, antiques and was quite the photographer. He married Julia Roberta Eddins McNealy in 1917. They had two children: Julia Ruth and Lester II. Lester and Julia lived in Texas, Arkansas (briefly) and Arizona. In March, 1944 (age fifty-seven years old) he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific.
